American Homeschooling Has Been Around Since We Trekked Across the Continent

Homeschooling in America is making a big comeback with all the problems that seem to stem from the education system. What people in American don't seem to realize is this country was made by homeschooling. It was one of the few times in America when most children could read and write and they were taught in covered wagons trekking into the wilderness.

I can still remember one of the early TV programs Little House On The Prairie' where the kids had to learn their reading and writing. It was actually a theme that ran through the whole program. Now homeschooling is basically the same, the parents are still teaching their kids albeit with a bit more that a pencil and a slate. The principle is still there and that is if you want your kids to get ahead then they have to be taught.

So American Homeschooling has progressed and even with some school boards trying to stop it, homeschooling has flourished. And unless our schools are made to be safer places it will still flourish. More and more families are looking at homeschooling as an alternative to mainstream education, and it is not only middle class American.

Some solo mothers on the benefit are homeschooling their kids for whatever reason they choose so now a wide range of American parents are choosing homeschooling. Also there are many associations helping American Homeschooling families like the AHA the American Homeschooling Association And the African American Homeschooling Association so homeschooling is encompassing all levels within society.

What is a good secular homeschool program that's not overally expensive?
I'd like to purchase a complete kit somewhere with all the materials I need for an 11'th grade year. I've been having a lot of trouble finding something reasonably priced and non religious. If you know of any good complete curriculums please send me the link. Thanks!

Secular Highschool Homeschooling Help?
Okay, So I am 15 and will be starting homeschooling again soon. I was homeschooled from 5th to 8th, then was put into public school this year, and did not like it at all due to it was a 5A school, 3,000 kids and the teachers just did not care. Except for my german teacher ( and tomorrow his class is going to be the hardest to say goodbye to) But onto my question, Is there any secular homeschool groups, for teens in texas? Or groups that aren't filled with scary people that never cut there hair, and wear skirts down to the floor..and is there any places that are good for college prep and scholar ships for homeschool kids?

Secular Homeschooling?
Does anyone know about the availability of COMPLETELY secular, agnostic or atheist curriculum for homeschool? Everything I've run into is all Christian, and while I've been considering homeschooling for a while (5 & 8 year olds, would be doing homeschool up until middle school), the lack of non-religious, science-based homeschool resources is a foreseeable roadblock if I were to do this at all, as is the (perceived) lack of secular homeschool community support. Does anyone have experience with non-religious homeschooling?
