Homeschooling Supplies

Homeschool SuppliesHomeschooling supplies come in many forms. Some of these are simply regular school supplies, sold from a homeschooling-oriented store. Others attempt to replicate the trappings of a traditional school. Still others are meant to help parents teach particular subjects or concepts. Which ones are right for you depend on both you and your children.

Supplies which are meant to mimic "regular" schoolrooms include chalkboards, school desks and chairs, and big maps. Whether these are really necessary depends on the situation. A blackboard can be cool, but is probably not at all necessary if there will only be one child looking at it. It is probably more useful to show a child or two a concept by drawing it out on paper where they can see it up close. Some homeschoolers, however, also get together with other parents to teach a small group of children a particular subject. In these cases, traditional school furniture may be extremely useful.

Courses meant to be taught in a homeschool environment can do a world of good for parents who need help developing a curriculum. With these courses, it is easy to ensure that no important material is missed. They also include something parents who haven't been to school themselves in years may need: Answer sheets. Nobody knows everything, and the answer sheets help parents make sure that the information they're teaching is definitely correct.

Science projects and equipment are also sold by homeschooler-centric retailers. These allow homeschooled children to get a better science education by providing access to instruments like microscopes. The wonder of directly viewing an organism so small that it can fit on a microscope slide is something that cannot be replicated by pictures in a book, so this type of equipment is essential for a child's learning experience.

When looking at homeschooling supplies, keep your and your child's individual situation in mind. What one child does well with, another may find completely boring. Fortunately, there is a wide variety of materials and supplies available, so you can find exactly what you need. Test different materials until you find what works best for your child.

Homeschool supply store, should I start one?
I currently work in a teacher supply store. The owners are teachers, they have not been able to decide what they are doing. Since they have opened they have added scrapbook supplies, christian items, office supplies and gifts. They are failing. They are selling the business. They offered it to me. I would want to turn it into a school supply store that catered more to the homeschooling sect. Maybe even offer craft classes for the little ones or supply space for someone to teach a unit study, the attendees would pay for it and I would get a cut of it. Maybe turn the back room into small lab room? Would this be of interest to anyone?

Homeschooling supplies and books needed?
Does anyone know where I can get homeschool supplies and books? Also, what is a good umbrella school and homeschool community? What is a good speech and dramatics course for young children from preschool to High School so they can learn to articulate themselves better and express theirselves in an outstanding way to prepare for the future? Where can I get The book The Joy of Cooking extremely resonable? Where can I get charts for teaching geography and the sciences? Where can I get movie tickets for students to learn at the theaters in select movies? Where is a good sponsor source for getting a photography lab equipment for the students? Who homeschools reading this messege now? I need some testimonial tips. Thanks.

I own teacher and homeschool supply store. I need to find early childhood, elementary, middle school,?
and high school textbooks. I try the major companies, like prentice hall, harcourt, etc. but they only sell to schools, parents. etc and they only will sell at their cost. Half.com, amazon.com, ebay.com sell textbooks but not a large quantity. I don't need new editions, old editions would work fine, is there book wholesaler i can buy these from. Thanks
