High School Homeschool Programs Despite the fact that high school may appear to be nothing to adults, a school diploma makes a vast difference to your income and moreover the stability of your job in the long run. Another survey conducted came up with the result that the workers on a full-time basis who earned a school diploma or GED were 37.5 percent less liable to be jobless as compared to workers with less education. The salary statistics happened to be even more striking as workers who had obtained a school diploma or GED received an average of $554 per week, in contrast to the $396 per week that the less qualified earned.

A High School Diploma in opposition to the GED

The GED examination is structured consisting of five divisions namely mathematics, writing skills, understanding literature, social studies and science. Even if you do finish off a GED program it would not be able to offer you a school diploma, however a large amount of hiring executives consider a GED holder to be just as good as a graduate from high school. On the other hand, you would come across some colleges that might consider the GED to be lower as compared to a school diploma. This is generally the case if they need specific courses of study that the GED does not offer.

The high school diploma offers you greater choices, particularly if you are taking into account additional schooling. Employers generally consider a school diploma or GED as evidence of a person's capability. I'm filling out a target application online. It asks for the name and address of the school I go to. But, I'm homeschooled and the school is in another state from where I live. I live in Michigan, my homeschool is in Pennsylvania. It's Penn Foster High School. Here's what the Applications asks: * required field 1. Describe your most recent High School Experience *Name of High School: Penn Foster High School (Homeschool Program)<--- Is it okay if I that homeschool part, cause it's the only way I can let target know that I'm homeschooled in this application. *City of High School *State of High School ZIP Code of High School *Country of High School Is it okay if I add that homeschool part?*

Taking a gap year...lots planned, but any thoughts?
I just graduated high school (homeschool program) and intend on taking a gap year this year to figure out what I want to do with my life (at least for now, though I'm well aware it might change) after a degree so I have a clear path in mind when I do begin college next fall. (majoring in the arts) I'm just looking for comments from anyone who had similar thoughts before beginning college and, if so, what did you decided to do for your gap year? I have a study abroad and road trip planned for the spring/summer. Until then I plan to begin working on my associates in Graphic Design (fully accredited and online) through PennFoster while taking a class or two at the college where my mom teaches (for free!!) and maybe an art class or two as well for more classroom hands-on experience. I can fund all of this, so money isn't the issue. This is what I want to do, but I guess I'm putting all of this out there just for general thoughts?? Basically, I want to get clear goals in place of where I'm going (to college and beyond) so once I enter as an undergrad I'm not just floundering my first year or two changing majors a thousand times. I know this isn't an incredibly popular trend here in the U.S. but it's particularly predominant with Europeans and Australians (don't know why, but there you go:) My parents encouraged me long ago to do this and I had almost relinquished the idea until just two weeks ago (planned on community college, but changed paths), now I feel this is where I'm supposed to be. Anyone else have a similar change in plans and, if so, what did you do (or what would you recommend) that made it memorable or what would you have done differently? I just want to make sure that I, above all, have fun while gaining experience and don't just waste away the year...
